'Step into the Broken Circle and heal the harmony of natural balance'
The final outcome of Rachel's Artist Residency with Cumbria Connect, The Broken Circle is a community informed immersive installation created for Lakes Deer Fest 2026 at The Rheged Centre.
Developed with the local community through a series of creative workshops, walks and discussion The Broken Circle explores the heritage of deer in the Cumbrian landscape, the impact of imbalance on the ecostystem and the role of deer management in wildlife restoration.
Through a creative lens and a new, community written Cumbrian folktale developed through the artist workshops, the artwork poses the question of what we should be doing to ensure the future ecological health of the local area.
